eMJOY's Official Mixtape Single PREMIERE- I Just Wanna (Deep in Love)

Here's publicly introducing for the first time ever, "I Just Wanna", the official first single off, emerging gospel artist, eMJOY's upcoming mixtape: 'YesGod’ Music Via the eMJOY Channel' (YMG-VTECH) tentatively set to be released for free download by October 28, 2011.
This song has that House genre sound to it, laced with quick Hip-Hop rap verses, full of fun and metaphors, plus a scintillating chorus, performed by the undeniably talented Ms. Shay (Toronto, Ca.).
"I Just Wanna" simply expresses an underlying desire of the performer to exalt his God in all that they do.
eMJOY wrote this song trying to lay bare before His Lord God, in the hearing of listeners, what his utmost intents were in making melody.

Expect a great deal more from the upcoming mixtape YMG-VTECH, come October, 2011!

King Solomon, Huram and the rest of us

A Letter of Recommendation
13 “I am sending you a master craftsman named Huram-abi, who is extremely talented. 14 His mother is from the tribe of Dan in Israel, and his father is from Tyre. He is skillful at making things from gold, silver, bronze, and iron, and he also works with stone and wood. He can work with purple, blue, and scarlet cloth and fine linen. He is also an engraver and can follow any design given to him. He will work with your craftsmen and those appointed by my lord David, your father. Signed: King Hiram (2 Chronicles 2:13-14)

I’m mulling over the life of King Solomon this afternoon. I'm totally amazed at how he threw himself into the project of building a Temple for God. What tickles me is the amount of the best of resources he used in implementing the project. King Solomon spent so much because the Temple of God deserves the best of the very best.

And then I paused to reflect. If we are God’s Temple(s) these present times should we not be doing the same? Should we not be investing the best of resources in building our capacity? In looking good? In ensuring we eat the best- physical food and spiritual food?

While running through the list of skilful men and women who helped build the Temple, a man named Huram jumped at me. Men, with their pettiness, would have disqualified him because he was a child of two cultures- an outsider. But guess what? A King from another “Country” actually recommended him! Why? Huram was extremely talented and his good works spoke well of him to Kings of Nations. When the time was right, he was honored to be among those who will build the Temple of God.

We all have a bit of that in us don’t we? But we most times allow the fear of the unknown to reduce us to shadows. We allow the foolishness of men limit us from shining.

I’m totally inspired by King Solomon’s dedication and Huram’s outstanding-ness. Please take out time to read the full story as recorded in the Bible- 1 Kings 6, 7:13 and of course the letter of recommendation written for Huram- 2Chronicles 2: 11-14.

Don’t allow anything stop you from rising! Whatever you are going through right now,
Arise,
Do not fret,
For the Prison is not a threat
But your route to the Palace.
A King’s Butler will make mention of your name
And the King will call you to fame.

Keep being faithful, whether you have very little or very much. Soon, it will yield increase and more increase. Stay blessed and be a blessing!

Happy days ahead! Please pass it on!

Preserve my Saltiness: Comments and Reviews

First a wonderful presentation, from the very beginning. The preface, dedication, all of it. From 'an idle heart' to "under the shadow of the almighty' you captivated me. Your passion, desire, and love you have for the written word is demonstrated beyond the readers imagination. It lifts ones heart and takes us on a journey that only one can do when they have been blessed with a talent that only our Lord can give. And blessed are we the readers for you answering his call! This book is amazing and Jenifer I will highly recommend to anyone." - Shannon Wendler, Writer and Poet- Founder of www.Poetryclub.com

I was going to wait until I had read through it to send you a note so I could comment at the same time. That was a mistake. After taking a couple opportunities over the weekend to read into it, I realize this is a book not to consume, but to savor. The individual pieces demand reflection, which requires a quiet time and full attention…Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, and others, through this special book.” John

In this book I see that Jennifer has wrangled in the electrifying bull of creativity to possess her words in a way that will speak to others deeply. She speaks to you in these pages from a place of strength and the calm assuredness that this is exactly what she would like to say. I hope you listen. Because by recording her truth, she has recorded our truth. So, take a moment and learn of your soul as you read the poetry of hers. Jennifer, you speak truth in a way that seems as though you are a hundred years old and have lived the lives of many. Your truth is unforgivingly raw, uncut crystal - like all truth that is worth telling. Thank you for sharing your gift of poetry with the world. Because, as we know, the world needs it. My favorite poem is My Brothers Wrestle.” --Jess Rimington, One World Youth Project

As a writer, I have carefully looked at these poems and believe that you will enjoy reading Preserve My Saltiness. You will enjoy reflecting on the threads of meaningful didactic and philosophical images, which help to enhance the encoded meanings. These poetic thoughts could only emanate from one who stayed close to grandma, picking eternal words of wisdom; I bet Jennifer did, as shown in these poems which are all her original pieces.” Isi Agboaye, Editor, Step Out Creatives

The dancing flood

When it rains very hard,
making loud crack crack sound
like broken beads falling on our roof,
Every movement cease on our street.

It is raining hard today,
Our street lies desolate
The only movement in sight,
is the flood dancing its way
to the gutter
That separates my street from yours.

The flood dancing its way,
In twist and turns,
into the gutter
that is already vomiting water.

Houses are squeezed here and there
No room for the flood to pass or rest.
Baba Ali’s unpolished building
sway left and right like a drunk,
His foundation was built on mere sand.
The Dancing flood...

Caught staring into yesterday #NigeriaDecides

Dear Son,
I got the note that you sent to me
and those horrifying pictures too,
the memory of both I can’t still erase.
I cannot begin to tell you
how pained I was to see all those bodies lying
there lifeless and wasted.
Bodies without faces, faces without traces!
Was it war? The war caused by greed!
I could tell most victims were innocent
Poor innocent always fall victim in war.
To answer your question on war:
There was never any war yesterday
Oh! Do not get me wrong, friend.
We fought for each other,
Our war was never against our own brother.
There was greed, sure there was greed
but power was never imposed on the greedy.
When I look back at yesterday,
I see a lot of differences in today.
Isn’t today the easier and wiser?
But a great madness has befallen the land.
Men no longer grieve for their own sin.
Now to answer your question on sin:
All have sinned, that is true.
But the lack of fear of God
has hardened so many hearts.
Men trembled in reverence to God yesterday,
but today, high sounding philosophies
and the wisdom of this world
mix-up what is and ought to be.
I hear taboos have become legalized.
Pre-marital sex is now displayed like wares on market stall.
And the media, the whistle-blowers
provide a bewildering array of choices.
A preacher walked into this ward to pray
I couldn’t say amen until he left.
I was afraid he would charge me for responding to his prayer.
And you know your poor old man have got no money.
I hear preaching is now a lucrative business
for every Jim, Joe and James.
The pulpit is now a hot spot for showcasing
the acrobatic display of wolves in sheep clothing.
Does that answer your question on religion?
Be careful where you lay your head son.
Look at the direction of where the sun is rising
before you take a step, for the days are evil.
May God forgive those politicians in old political boots
Who are still using youths,
the posterity of the nation
for selfish political war against their rivals.
They shamelessly pant after the next election
instead grooming the next generation.
Ostracize yourself from their dissent,
and go on your knees when everyone else take up arms.
I do not mean the usual hypocritical SOS call made in a rush.
The prayer of the humble, God never neglects.
I feel rejuvenated writing you these lines,
and I am looking forward to seeing you again!
How old are you now? Twenty?
You remind me so much of my youth.
Except, yours is an age plagued by political and religious unrest,
fear of economic recession, negligence of societal values,
burden of broken relationships and dysfunctional homes.
How time changes yesterday!
But still, your drive and passion for change,
brings sunshine to my gloomy old-age.
In your voice,
I hear the joyful drum of what tomorrow holds,
daring me to hope beyond hope, despite the brokenness of today.
Regards,
Your great-grand-uncle.

May every good thing come, to you

I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a solemn wish in your name
that you may find your heart desires
despite of the rarity of star dust.

I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a solemn wish in your name
That every thing good must come to you
Just as your heart desires.

I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a wish in your name
Although many years have gone by
I remember, for me, you once did the same.

:-) 2016 Version

TO A LOVER:
I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a solemn wish in your name
that you may find your heart desires
despite the rarity of star dust.
I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a solemn wish in your name
That everything good may come to you
Just as your heart desires.
I gazed upon a shinning star
And made a wish in your name
Although many years have gone by
I remember, for me, you once did the same.
There is a God
He made the stars and to Him I lift my eyes tonight
May He hear and answer my call
And grant all your heart desires.

The better companion:

Sometimes,
it is sitting together,
in silence.
Leave the kids at liberty,
...under God's watch.
Silence.
No nagging. No complaining. No gossiping.
I hear your thoughts.
You feel mine.
We are intimate.

He restored my crown

He restored my crown:

He whispered my name
to fame.

Like a Rose
I blossomed
and laughed.
I begged,
bled
and saw red.

Sigh.
I pierced His side
again.
I am a sinner.
Blame me the call
I failed to heed.

I danced to strange rhythm,
he played lead act in my encrypted script.

I fell,
to rise.
Lust gave in to penitence.
I failed the test, thrice,
but mercy never let me fail
to return home.

Lust is lost.
But he’ll return
and find no room
in my cleansed robe.
No viper in my bosom.
My crown is restored unto honour.

Lushly virtuous,
and at peace, I am royalty.

This poem is in response to "I tore my Robe."
